To succeed you must first make attempts, in making attempts you will make mistakes, and instinctively, with mistakes comes the fear of making another attempt to avoid further failings. Naturally, as humans, we do not only fear for the things around us but even of things we are uncertain about but simply suspect might take place. And while fear is a part of human nature, it often stops people from taking steps that would be necessary for advancing their lives. So how do you overcome fear to allow you reach your full potential? The following practical steps should help you learn how to overcome your fears.
A very valid part of being human is acknowledging that we oftentimes possess fear capable enough to hold us back in our hearts. Instead of pretending not to notice that a particular fear exists at the back of your mind, acknowledge it. If you can do this, you’ve taken a leap step in overcoming your fears. Identify when you are most likely to become fearful, your reaction in times of fear, and possible ways by which you can break out of it. After you have identified your fears, your next move is to write it down in no particular order. By doing this you put the fear out of your mind onto something visible. You can clearly see that it’s there and then begin to make moves to throw them out one after the other.
Transform your fears into focus. In focusing to ignore fear, even the little things matter. Who are those lives you tend to affect by hitting this goals? If you give up, what becomes of them? You need to focus on your mission and the primary aim of all you have intended to achieve. How much you covet success should exceed your fear of failing.
Life is a marathon, not a sprint. As long as you are inching closer to where you really want to be, then don’t stop, keep moving. And even though, most people want quick fast results, they do not happen overnight. The secret to getting ahead is getting started. Every step matters.
Embrace challenges because they are a part of life. And whether or not you run, challenges do not simply go away. They have to be tackled. When you have a challenge, immediately seek to focus on how to fix things or make it right. Life would not go on as usual if certain things stay out of place demanding attention.
Lastly, move out of your comfort zone. If you are having second thoughts about doing something or not, then just do it already.
